What I’m Loving: Concentric Collection Frames by Warby Parker

Where does the time go? This past weekend was just busy! I’m exhausted but feeling accomplished. Yesterday, I went in search of something pretty and stylish that would lighten my mood and make me smile. I ended up finding (and falling in love with) these gorgeous glasses in the Concentric Collection by Warby Parker.

Most of you probably don’t know that I wear glasses for distance. The current frames I have are pink and black by Guess. I’ve had them since early high school and haven’t wanted to change them, they’re pink after all! This new collection has me rethinking this decision though. My favorites frames are the Cognac Tortoise and Oak Barrel. They also have sunglasses in these frames!

I need to go to the eye doctor soon to make sure my eyes haven’t gotten worse and to adjust my prescription. It’s been a few years to say the least! As much as I love pink, I’m thinking a little update to my frames wouldn’t kill me. Plus, for every pair of glasses sold, Warby Parker donates a pair of glasses to charity for someone in need. By taking care of your eyes, you’re caring for the eyes of someone who can’t!

My Christmas To-Do List

christmas_to_do_listDo you ever just have those days where all you want to do is sit at home and relax? With the Christmas season upon us, I feel like this is all the time! Between homework and my part-time job, I don’t have the time to sit around and do nothing. I haven’t had time to bake any cookies or decorate my little tree. Life just gets away from me!

In an effort to enjoy these next few festive weeks, I’m making a promise to myself that I’ll take one day out of every week to enjoy the season and relax at home. I’ll drink my latte, decorate my tree, bake some sugar cookies, wrap gifts, light a candle, cuddle up under a blanket, and just enjoy the festive nature of December.

Be sure to check off these to-do’s over the next few weeks!

  • Decorate a tree
  • String lights on bushes outside
  • Try new cocoa recipe
  • Bake cookies
  • Have a Christmas movie marathon
  • Cut out paper snowflakes
  • Hang mistletoe
  • Listen to Christmas music
  • Enjoy a roaring fire
  • Lounge in warm Christmassy pajamas

Favorite Ornaments for Your Tree

Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? Last I checked it was the day before Thanksgiving and now it’s Saturday. I’ve been so busy with festivities and work that I really haven’t taken the time to respond to your comments or write. Oops. Sorry, life got in the way.

You’ll be surprised to know that after my wonderful Thanksgiving meal and wonderful pie, I did not partake in any pre-Black Friday adventures or even any actual Black Friday adventures. That’s right, I didn’t shop at all. While I feel a little bent out of shape about it, I can honestly say it feels good to save my money for things that I actually will need. It about killed me to watch my Instagram feed blow up with everyone’s fabulous finds. I really pouted after seeing one blogger’s splurge at Kate Spade and a few other stores. Oh well, maybe next year?

Christmas Tree Ornaments!

For many of us, Christmas decorating is well underway. While my tree has yet to go up, I found the perfect tree for myself at Target! It’s a 4 foot pre-lit white tree that literally sparkles! I decided that a tree like this has to have cute ornaments. I found adorable “food” themed ornaments at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland online. These ornaments range from $5-$15 and they’re all made of glass. Here are the one’s that I’m wanting on my tree!

What’s your favorite? Let me know!

Warm & Cozy Weekend

warm_and_cozySaturdays are made for relaxing and recovering from a stressful week. Unfortunately, my Saturdays usually have me working. With Christmas coming, I know my boss is going to be scheduling my weekends packed with work. Now that the temperature is dropping into the 30s, I hate leaving my house period for any occasion much less work. Anyway, for those of you who do have today to yourself, here’s 8 things that make my chilly days-in worth waiting a whole week for.

1. A Starbuck’s Gingerbread Latte

2. Fuzzy Ugg Mocassins

3. A plate of warm cookies

4. A flannel shirt (if I could find one that would look cute on me)

5. Christmas with the Kranks (fave Christmas movie!)

6. Cutting out paper snowflakes

7. Warm, cable knit blanket (this one is from Ikea)

8. Bath & Body Works candles

What does your perfect Saturday include?

Nails for the Holiday Season

nail_colors_for_autumn I have a love for painting my nails and with the holiday festivities coming up it’s only going to get worse. I find the best deals on nail polish from good brands like Essie at Marshall’s. At most I pay about $4.50 for Essie or O.P.I. there. I have quite the collection! I’ve compiled 6 colors that are worth wearing in the next 6 weeks that bring out the warmth of the season (ironic, right?) The brand I chose to go with for the purposes of this post is Zoya.

I chose gold and burgundy for the rich undertones in them. Gold reminds me of champagne and giving toasts and the burgundy reminds me of the wine at festive dinners.

Navy blue and forest green were my second favorite color combo because they’re often seen together in tartan plaid. It’s an age-old classic that’s sewn into big, warm blankets, scarves, and the Scottish kilt.

My third choice was a little more modern and icy, if you will. The gray brought in the chill of late Autumn and early winter while the purple embraced some of the non-traditional colors of Christmas.

What I like to do is paint my nails one color but leave out the ring fingers on both hands. With those fingers I paint them a complimenting but different color. For example, you might choose the navy blue as your main color but the green you would use on your ring finger. Sometimes I add a layer of silver or gold sparkle onto that. You can never have too much glitter, right?
