My New and Free Personal Stylist

stylit_appHappy weekend y’all! I hope your days off are full of relaxation and… shopping! I have a fabulous website for you to check out that will certainly inspire the fashionista in you! It’s called Stylit.com and it will take the world by storm once beta testing is over. I have had it for a few months and there’s only a few glitches but otherwise its really neat to have.

If you’re like me, you walk into a store or go to your closet and wonder what the heck you’re going to wear. Stylit pretty much does it for you by sending you a few outfit ideas a week based on your personal style test results. Most pieces of the outfits we all typically have in various colors and styles but it jogs your memory on how you can wear these pieces.

Today was one of those days when I could have and should have checked for outfit ideas because I had no idea what to wear so I settled on white shorts and mint colored hoodie. Boring. It just felt too “High School Musical” for someone about to graduate college.

Anyway, below are a few pictures that illustrate the greatness of this website/app. Let me know what your favorite look is and if you sign up!

Fall Lust List!

Fall Lust List

Hello loves! Yesterday I was browsing through the mall and came across a few common themes for the fall season. I’ll explain them and my thoughts on how they can be styled.

First, the wide brim, floppy, felt hat is a pretty significant statement to make during the fall season. Despite my fear of bold statements, I really do love this hat! I tried one on today at Macy’s and it was wine colored. It look absolutely stunning! Where it with dark wash jeans and a neutral top!

Second, leather driving gloves may be something our grandma’s wore but gosh they are so glassy! I saw them all over the place being worn by young and old alike. The ones pictured only go to the end of your palm in terms of coverage. It looks great when you’re driving! Tres chic!

Third, plaid scarves have always been the uniform of anyone who has ever spent a fall in the north east or mid west. Plaid just says “preppy” to me. I invested in a cute one last year and can’t wait to wear it again!

Fourth, Ray Bans and watches are, and always will be, a classic. However, purchasing gold framed sunglasses brings out the autumn colors while the blue just adds that little boost of color needed.

Fifth, nail polish is my favorite thing. Really, it is! Red wine and forest green are pretty popular this season along with gold and navy blue. Get them before they’re gone!

Finally, “smoking slippers” are apart of the new preppy wardrobe. These are just too cute! I love the gold design. It would look great with dark wash jeans and a neutral top.

Fourth of July Fashion!

Hello everyone! In true Fourth of July fashion I’m sporting the red, white, and blue! This is one of my favorite holidays as my family came here from Ireland, Scotland, and several other European countries in search of freedom and opportunity. That was 100 years ago. Now, I enjoy the benefits of being a pure bred American girl!

Fourth_of_july_outfitAnyway, my outfit consists of a lacey red top from Banana Republic (on sale!) White 3 inch inseam shorts from JCrew (also on sale!) My sandals are from Rampage and I found them at Burlington Coat Factory for $10.

My necklace is from Forever 21 and the anchor earrings are from Aldo.Essie_nails The nail polish is Essie in “Secret Lining” and my sunnies are from Ann Taylor.

Comment below with your outfit of the day! Happy 4th of July! God Bless my beautiful America!

Packing for a Week in a Carry-On

Vera_BradleyI absolutely hate paying airlines to check my luggage. I paid enough for my flight as it is, do I really have to pay to take my stuff with me too? Apparently the answer is yes. Well, this time around I’ve found a way around that. Tomorrow I head to the land of tourism and sunshine for vacation. I’m spending a week in Orlando, FL visiting my boyfriend and a few friends. One of the hardest things about packing for a vacation is knowing what activities you’ll be doing while you’re there. I’ve packed outfits that can work for many different events and be dressed up or down. Read on to see what I packed!

Florida Bound!

1. Bottoms

I packed mostly white shorts/capris because they will match anything! I also packed some Cute_Shortsjean shorts for a more casual look and athletic shorts for days that may require athletic clothes. All of these are very versatile and allow me to change the look of my outfit without changing everything.

2. Tops

Cute_TopsI picked things that can work for both day and night. The black and white striped top can be worn with white shorts or capris. The light purple top is 3/4 length sleeve and a very light fabric and can be worn with white/jean shorts and dressed up or down for day or evening activities. The silver tank top is best for evenings out and looks particularly good with the white capris. The white tank top works with any combination of shorts. The coral top is also 3/4 length and light fabric and once again can be worn with any combination of shorts (except for the athletic shorts) and dressed up or down with the right accessories! Finally, the yellow top is a tank and looks best with the white shorts and capris.

3. Dresses

The coral dress is mid length and 3/4 length sleeve and looks great with nude pumps or flats. It can be worn for day and Little_Black_Dressnight depending the accessories and shoes.  The black lace dress is one shoulder and also looks nice with the same nude pumps.

4. Accessories

I brought with me a pearl necklace and matching earrings (seriously, what doesn’t look Jewelry_Accessoriesgood with pearls?) I also brought a large statement necklace that pairs well with almost every outfit. Additionally, I brought dangly earrings in blue to work with both coral pieces in my wardrobe. The multi colored earrings will also work with any of the outfits I brought. Finally, to add a nautical touch to my casual outfits, I brought navy blue anchor earrings.

Also, not pictured is my cross body Coach bag (for days when I don’t want a big bag to carry), navy blue Sperrys, nude pumps, and silver sparkly strappy sandals. The Sperrys are great for my casual outfits (I’m also wearing them on the plane to reduce weight in my carry on) while the pumps and sandals are nice for a dressed up look or brunch with the girls 😉

5. Little extras

Obviously bring your underwear, socks, bras blah, blah, blah. Don’t forget your bikini too! I bought mine in a magenta color that can be mixed with my navy bikini pieces. For this trip, I don’t want to add a lot of weight to my luggage (25 pound limit!) so I’m only bringing the magenta bikini. Also, don’t forget your flat iron or curler. Be aware of weight limits so you may have to choose between them (yikes, you can do this!)

Bonus: I’m bringing my laptop, make up, and Vogue in my tote bag (yes, it does fit under the stupid seat in front of me madam flight attendant!) Most airlines allow you the carry on to be stowed overhead and a laptop bag/large purse to go underneath the seat in front of you.

As for my outfit tomorrow, I’m sporting a navy blue tank top underneath a mint colored hoodie with those white shorts I mentioned earlier.

Am I missing anything? Any things you might take with you? Let me know in a comment below!
