Coffee Mug Lust List

Thank God it’s Friday! I love this day probably a little too much. I think we all do though. Friday nights during the summer are just the best! Summer nights in general are the best though. I’m sitting on my deck right now sipping my morning coffee and listening to the sounds of construction going on in the building next to me. Gotta love it. Nothing can bring me down though, I’ve got my coffee!

Lust List

I have quite the collection of coffee mugs that I should really show you guys at some point. Recently, I came across quite a few new ones to put on my lust list though. They’re just so cute and I want them all! I’m also working on a little coffee station in my apartment that I’ll be showing you all at some point. How to Make Homework Enjoyable

Time for Homework

It’s homework season and I’m already tired. There’s just some things I do not love and never will. Homework is one of them. I’ve compiled a little visual for all the college newbies and others of things that anyone with an intense study session ahead of them will need.

First, get yourself into a comfy outfit. I’m a hoodie and sweats kind of girl. I’m not comfy unless I’m in something of the sort. Treat yourself to a good pair of sweatpants and a warm hoodie. You’ll be needing them.

Second, have your laptop! I know you think you’ll just be reading that textbook, but chances are you will need to Google something that you don’t get. Or you might just procrastinate and post pictures of your “study sesh” on Facebook. Whatever, just have it ready and charged (hint: bring a charger!)

Third, invest in a warm, fuzzy blanket. It makes everything cozier! If I have a blanket to curl up in, I’m so much more inclined to sit there and work because it’s a warm and inviting atmosphere!

Fourth, have your agenda and pen near by to check due dates. You’ll need it trust me because you’ll think something is due next Friday but will want to double check to make sure.

Fifth, having earbuds are a must. I have to block out excess noise with these things. I love to listen to Andrea Boccelli and Michael Buble while working. Invest in a good pair that won’t break after 20 uses.

Sixth, have coffee near by for when you start to get drowsy. Long study sessions require maximum caffeine. I have a whole arsenal of creamers in my refrigerator ready to be added to my Columbian brew. Plus, getting cute coffee mugs to pour the drink into is also a highlight I enjoy!

Seventh, burn a candle! For a relaxing atmosphere, I burn a candle. It doesn’t make me sleepy but it does make me feel comfortable and like I want to stay in the space I’m in. That’s hard to do when homework is near by!

Eighth, have munchies on hand. I don’t mean you need to eat your way through your homework but just have a little pick me up ready after you’ve read so many pages. I use this reward system to get me to read faster.

Finally, have a pillow near by. Sometimes I can find a way to rest my head on my pillow and turn the book so I can still read. Other times, I just need to take a little nap to get me through the rest of the homework session.

Hopefully these ideas and tips have you looking forward to the next time you need to have a homework day. I have many of them and rely on these tricks to get me through them. Comment below with your thoughts and suggestions!

What’s in my Beach Bag

Kenneth_ColeThis weekend I will be laying on the beach spending time in the sun and sand! We take a beach trip at least once a summer to get our fix of salt water and sea breezes. Better yet, we get our summer tans that last until late October.

My first vacation was spent at the beach in a cute little swimsuit with a big floppy hat on my head. I hated the water actually and cried when the waves crashed on the beach. But as any born and raised east coaster knows, a beach bag must be properly packed. I’m going to give you a peak inside my beach bag to see what I’m bringing!

Not pictured is my sunscreen (spf 30),  iPhone, ear buds, and little pineapple snack.

I can’t wait to show you all vacation photos when I get back! Please tell me if I’ve forgotten anything for my beach bag! There’s nothing worse than forgetting something big!

5 Purses to Invest in

Purses and Their Purposes

Every girl needs something to carry their stuff in. We can’t get away with carrying a wallet around like our male counter parts can. But honestly, would we want to? Our bags are way too cute! In middle school, I went to a private Christian school and a few of the popular girls had Dooney & Bourke purses and lunch bags. Being the price that they were I couldn’t buy one. However, I found a great knock-off version that had all the girls at school wondering how I bought one. As I got older though, I realized investing in a few different good bags is worth the money. Here are 5 bags every girl needs to invest in.

1. The Satchel

Coach_PurseThis is pretty standard and necessary for every girl. Whether you’r shopping, eating out, running errands, or going to a ball game, this purse will serve you well! I got mine from a Coach outlet in Florida. It was normally $250 but I got it for $90! If you don’t want to buy something this expensive, many department stores and places like Ross or Marshall’s carry brands like Tommy Hilfiger or Kenneth Cole that have great satchels.

2. The Tote Bag

Dooney_&_BourkeThis was especially useful for me when I was in college carrying books around to and from classes. It also makes a great carry on for the plane. Get a sturdy one because it will receive a lot of wear and tear especially around the handles! The one my mom and I share is Dooney & Bourke (I got a fabulous deal on it) but a great tote I used to have was from Kenneth Cole and was only $35 and it lasted for quite awhile!

3. The Clutch

Black_ClutchIts perfect for a night out, a wedding, party, or dancing with your friends. No more putting your credit cards and cell phone in awkward places! Mine is a black vintage 1940s clutch that was my grandma’s in her younger days. I used to play dress up with it when I was a kid but I now see the true beauty in such an adorable accessory. Get one in a neutral color such as nude or black to suit all purposes.

4. The Cross-Body Purse

Coach_PurseThis is so great to have if you’re going to a theme park or on a long day trip that involves walking around. Its small and portable and requires very little fuss. It can easily fit your phone, ID, credit cards, cash, hand sanitizer, and lip gloss. When I worked at Disney World, tons of women wore these because they were small and convenient. The other good thing about them is that they’re small enough to fit on roller coasters. You won’t have to leave your bag behind and worry about it being stolen.

5. The Duffel Bag

Vera_BradleyNot quite as big as a suit case but gets a lot of use for long weekends and overnighters. I found my Vera Bradley duffel at an outlet in Florida for $45 when they are normally $85 (for the large size). The print is called Safari Sunset. I’ve gotten so many compliments on my duffel and it truly has served its purpose.

What Do I Put in an Easter Basket?

6 Tips For an Amazing Easter Basket

Easter_Basket
My sister and I’s baskets! Not pictured is my Tumbler and cute socks!

After a certain age Easter baskets really aren’t the same. The candy doesn’t excite us like it used to and hunting for Easter eggs is out of the question. My mom has always put together a cute basket for me (and I’m 21) and I still love it! Here are a few things that you can put in an Easter back for the kid at heart in your life.

1. Good candy

You don’t have to spend a ton of money on this but some Ghirardelli chocolate pieces in an Easter basket is very nice! If you buy it in bulk from Ross it can be cheaper (just check the expiration date).

2. Starbuck’s VIA

Again, find this at Ross or even Marshall’s. They have the coffee version and then teas also! I love the berry hibiscus pink on they have. If these happen to be too expensive then buy a generic version from Walmart or Target.

3. Tumbler or Mug

Mug from Burlington

There’s nothing better to me than finding a mug I love! Some of the best ones I have found were at Burlington Coat Factory and Vera Bradley! They range in price. One of my faves I found for $1.98 at Burlington. I also bought one at a Vera Bradley outlet for $7! The Tumblers tend to be more expensive but I saw one that was adorable for $4.98 the other day.

4. Bath or body products

Both guys and girls alike need them and you don’t have to spend a fortune. Twice a year Bath & Body Works does their big semi-annual sale and you can find body wash, soap, body spray, and other little things for up to 75% off. They have a great selection of men’s products too. This sale happens during the summer and then right after Christmas, so stock up early!

5. For the Ladies

Nail polish and cute socks. I get my fave socks at Target for $1.50 a pair and every season they have new patterns and designs. Target also sells N.Y.C. nail polish that ranges from $1-3 a bottle. Not the best brand, but I use it on my toes because no one can see the little chips and mistakes you tend to make with cheaper polish!

6. Go Traditional

Get Peeps. Its a classic and you can’t go wrong.

On Instagram, I saw one girl had posted her Easter basket for that year and her parents had filled a Lilly Pulitzer bag with Lilly Tumblers, Vineyard Vines baseball hat, Peeps, Souther Proper t-shirt, and Cadbury Creme eggs. Obviously, this was a little excessive and probably cost around $170. You do not have to spend crazy money like that to give someone a great basket! Planning ahead and constantly looking for good deals is what gets you the goods at a great price.

What do you put in Easter baskets? Do you have a traditional item that goes in?
