Leopard Print Trend This Fall

leopard print style

Oooh you guys leopard print is in this fall! I’ve been seeing it everywhere and it’s delightful! It’s to the point where I think it might be a new neutral in wardrobes. And I’m ok with that. I first started seeing it when I was browsing the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and knew it was going to be big this fall. I’ve since seen it all over Amazon and in other stores as well.

I searched all over to find some to share with you and I think you’ll love them! Fair warning, don’t just Google leopard print, you get a lot of tacky lingerie results before anything else comes up. Yikes. Anyway, my affiliate links to everything are below!

Trending: Marble Accessories

Happy Tuesday loves. Yesterday was hectic, which is why you didn’t hear much from me. I’m going away for a few weeks so I’m trying to get everything done and be on top of my game for when I’m out of town. Who knew it would be so difficult? You don’t realize how complicated your life is until you try to take some time away from it. Come to think of it, can you really ever take time away from life? I’m busy holding down a full time job while I search for another one because my contract ends in November. Job hunting is a full time job in and of itself! Enough about my little life, let’s talk about my latest love: marble.Marble Mayhem

¬†Not only are our homes being decked out in marble accents, so is the jewelry we wear. I’m seeing it more and more than I expected. I knew marble counter tops were trending, but I never guessed jewelry would try to get in on the trend. Not sure if I’ll be getting in on this trend or not. I’m certainly on board when it comes to counter tops though. Call me crazy, but there’s nothing I dislike more than the granite counter top trend that’s been going on for the last 8 years or so. What started out as a luxury has become generic. Marble is timeless and something we should embrace more of in the design of our homes.

Since we all don’t have the money to go out and replace our counters on a whim, there are a few things that we can add to our kitchens that are much cheaper and still achieve the marble look. The first thing on my shopping list is a marble cutting board. I’ve seen these at TJ Maxx many times for about $30 and they look really nice! Cake stands are another pretty thing to have sitting in your kitchen. I’m dying to get my hands on a marble vase to put peonies in too!

Another really beautiful thing that goes well with marble is accents of gold! Even if it’s just a faux gold finish, the look of it is so elegant. There’s honestly nothing I love more when it comes to kitchen design. It’s also a classic and can’t be dated to one specific time period. Anyone who’s ever walked into a kitchen that hasn’t been redesigned since the 1970s knows how tacky it looks now. Classics are classics for a reason. Embrace marble and gold!

Color Blocking Trend

A trend I’m hoping to see for the summer months is color blocking! For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically sectioning off different parts of your body with a distinct color. For example, the yellow top would section off your upper torso and chest while the skirt would section off your legs and hips.

This was popular last year and it was really flattering. I love bright colors for the summer months too. Obviously I’m a lover of anything pink so that will be one of the color blocks I go to quite often. I think royal blue, yellow, lime green, and citrus orange would be great choices to pair with it.

I tend to buy solid color items because they go with so many things. I’m overcoming my aversion to pattern and learning how to wear it. I can be a little ridiculous about wearing more than one pattern though. For whatever reason, that’s been popular recently. No one likes a floral print with zebra stripes. It’s hideous. Really hideous. Forever 21 has glorified this trend and the hipsters and mini fashionistas have jumped on the band wagon. Personally, I’m staying far away from it. I never saw Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn rocking this trend so I’m just going to assume that it’s a fad and will look hilarious in photos 20 years from now.

Enjoy your Tuesday! I’m getting back in the work grind right now.

Turning 22: Outfit Inspo

birthday_outfitRemember that Taylor Swift song “22”? It was popular a few years back when her album “Red” debuted. I’ve been dying to sing this song for the last month because I’m turning 22 next Friday! Being born in the spring is the perfect testimony to the rebirth of nature and beauty that stems from it. April birthdays are the best birthdays!

Because I love the spring so much and my birthday is next week, I created the perfect little outfit to accompany this special event in my life. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I love the midi skirt and graphic tee trend! After Lent is finally over, I’ll be shopping for the perfect spring midi skirt to wear! I’m also all about the statement jewelry. My bestie, Lindsey, bought this gorgeous J Crew necklace and I’ve fallen in love with it. I’m also considering investing in some cute kitten heels. Since I’m around 5’8″, I typically don’t like to wear stilettos because I hit 6 foot and it’s awkward. Any tall girls out there who get what I’m saying?

Anyway, happy early birthday to me! I hope 22 is kind to me. 21 seemed to have a bit of an issue with me. Here’s to another year!

An Au Naturale Stylish Outfit!

Nothing says summer to fall like this! We love the rompers, but this long sleeve version in a very muted tone is great for that transition time. I love going black with my accessories because it looks so chic. A red lip is also trending (thanks Taylor Swift!) This outfit would be so great for a Saturday afternoon at the outdoor mall or at a cute little cafe somewhere.

It’s kind of funny because I have all these great ideas for adorable outfits to wear and nowhere to actually go in them! I live in a rural town and it’s perfectly acceptable to go literally anywhere in your sweatpants. During my time living in Washington, D.C., it was so great to dress up a little and go somewhere, even if it was during the day. Here’s my little tribute to those of us who get to dress up!
