Sephora $6 Mask Review

sephora facial review

Thank God it’s finally Friday! It has been such a long week and nothing short of chaotic. I want to sleep in and then sip my coffee while I browse Instagram and Pinterest. There’s isn’t a lot more satisfying than that. Actually, tomorrow I’ll be doing a noon photoshoot for my belated graduation photos, but other than I will spend the day in bed!

One of my favorite things to do on my weekends is go to farmer’s markets to get flowers and then do a bit of pampering when I get home. Usually that entails giving myself a pedicure and then a facial. Sephora is selling $6 face masks and $3 lip masks now and obviously I had to try one!
at home facials Not going to lie here, I wasn’t all that impressed. The pearl mask I tried made my skin oily and I broke out into red pimples. Not cute! However, the lip mask did soften my lips quite a bit! You leave the mask on for 15 minutes and then take it off. The instructions said not to wash your face after but I did dab my face dry because there was so much excess product left over. At least you get your money’s worth!

All in all, I wouldn’t recommend the face mask but the lip mask was worth the buy. They have hand and foot masks that I’m probably going to try soon. I’ll let you girls know how those work when I finally try them. Keep in mind that if your skin is dry, the face mask might do wonders for you! Since my skin is naturally oily in most spots, it made the problem worse. Either way, I hope you get some time to just enjoy your weekend and relax!

5 Ideas for a Great girls night in

Hello loves! Since nicer weather is finally here, I feel like Friday nights people almost feel obligated to take advantage of the warm evenings and go to the pubs and outdoor restaurants. As fun as this can be, sometimes you just need a night in if for no other reason than your bank accounts are drained. Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to sit at home alone watching obscure channels and partaking in some knitting. Instead, why not plan a girl’s night in with your besties? Here are a few of my suggestions!

Games Night In

Chances are if you and your girls have smartphones (who doesn’t?) then you’re already all into gaming apps, mobile bingo or even mobile casino games. Make your girl’s night in a little more exciting this weekend by downloading Smart Live Gaming on your iPhone or Android to play some live roulette or popular slot games. Competition always gets me going especially when I’m playing my friends. Not going to lie, I hate losing!

Movie Marathon

There’s a reason movie marathons are a classic night-in staple. All you have to do is decide on a theme for your movie marathon night, buy some wine, order a pizza and pop open the ice cream tubs to watch some of your favorite chick flicks! May I suggest watching the Hills all over again?

The Great Girls Night Bake Off

There are few things in the world more satisfying than eating a dessert you prepared yourself. Before your next girls night in, scroll through a couple of dessert recipe Pinterest boards, pick a few pies, cookies or cakes and go get the ingredients. When your gal pals come over, start the bake off! Really this is just a good excuse to eat more than one decadent dessert but who cares? No judgement here.

YouTube Makeup Tutorial Challenge

There are literally thousands of makeup tutorials on Youtube, so chances are you and your girls are able to do some of them. Take turns choosing and attempting makeup tutorials on each other, or if you want to take it to the next level search for Halloween or cosplay makeup tutorials! Between the wine and the inevitable eyeliner problems it’s sure to be memorable.

Spa Night

If you need to relax, host a spa night! Each of you could bring your favorite nail polishes or ingredients for a DIY facial to enjoy together. Pop the bubbly and indulge in some chocolate covered strawberries while your pedicure dries!

Hopefully this gave you some fun ideas for a night in! Often I find myself wanting to stay at home after a long work week instead of going out. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels this way! Enjoy your girl’s night in!

I started using Jamberry because I love having my nails done, but almost never took the time to do them myself and never wanted to spend the money to get them done at a salon. The first time I tried them, I fell head over heals in love! I was able to apply them quickly, I didn’t have to wait for them to dry, and I got to have cute nails that lasted through out my daily routine!

Spa Day: Homemade Face Mask

I love Sundays because normally I have a guest post on the blog! Today is no exception! Emily from Erratic Goddess is showing us how to make 3 great face masks!

The skin care is the most important thing when it comes to beauty. And taking care of our face is beyond important; our face is like the mirror of our spirit.

I don’t think it’s fair to go out everyday using heavy makeup, foundations, eyeliners, shadows, creams and nothing more, our face needs care, a lot of care! That’s why today I’m going to show you 3 effective, homemade masks that are going to help you with your face.

The first one is a mask to remove the blackheads from the nose. In this mask we’re going to use just baking soda and lemon juice. It is important for me to clear one fact here, when we use lemon as an ingredient for anything that is going to be used in our skin (face, arms, hands) it is better if we use it at night, because the sun and the lemon has this weird reaction together and it can make little stains in our skin.

Mask #1

Ingredients:

2 tbsp of baking soda

The juice of a Lemon

Mix the baking soda and the lemon until you get a sticky paste, apply it on your face and massage in circles for 1 minute. Leave it for another minute and then remove it with cold water.

The second mask is to eliminate pimples. They are annoying and makeup is not enough to cover them and it makes them worse. Before using this mask on your skin, make sure you’re not allergic to cinnamon. Take a little bit of the mask, put it on your nose or cheeks and leave it for a minute if it doesn’t hurt or causes itching or redness, you’re good to go.

Mask #2

Ingredients:

2 tbsp of cinnamon (powder)

2 tbsp of honey

The juice of a lemon

Mix all the ingredients and apply to your face everywhere except in your eyes; let it rest for 4 or 5 minutes and then wash it out with cold water. It’s going to leave your face fresh and soft.

Mask #3

Ingredients:

2 tbsp of oats

2 tbsp of brown sugar

1 crushed tablet (aspirin or tylenol)

3 tbsp of honey or chamomile tea

Mix everything until you get a strong paste, apply to your face and let it rest for 5 minutes, remove the excess and with the part that has stuck to your face, massage your forehead, nose, lips and chins for 2 minutes and then remove it with cold water.

These 3 masks, if you do them together the same night are a great combination, but the pimple mask is good just to make it twice a month, the same goes to the blackhead mask. However, the exfoliating mask is perfect for every night or 3 timers per week or as you like.

I hope you enjoy this post and do some of the masks! Make yourself feel like you’re in a spa. It would be fun to have a sleepover party with your best friends and make them all. Take some pictures and share it.

Thanks, Emily! If you like what you read head over to her blog and let her know!
