Obsessed with Watercolor

Hello lovelies! I have a new obsession- watercolor illustrations from the Jones Design Company! The owner and designer, Emily, is a talented lady that has so much to share with the world. I first heard about her business when I was looking for design blogs to follow and then I came across her store and fell in love with the cute things she’s created. She’s a busy wife and mom of four kids. Emily really takes #bosslady to a whole new level!

I ordered one of her prints a month ago and I was so happy with it. I wanted something beautiful to hang on my wall that also included words of encouragement for my toughest days. I chose the “Do Not Worry” print. In full it says “Do not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about itself.” I repeat these words to myself every single day, we all should. There’s beauty and truth to them.

Emily also has a few freebies on her website including this adorable “Summer Essentials” print I downloaded and then printed on heavy card stock paper. It came out beautifully and looks so nice on my desk! I’m absolutely in love with the touch of whimsy illustrations like these can add to a room. There’s just something lovely about them.

I strongly believe that every room in a home needs flowers, sunlight, and artwork. Many of the Jones Design Company’s illustrations combine all of those things onto a single piece of paper. The results are truly wonderful. If you’re looking for something to brighten your living space, consider some of Emily’s artwork. It will make you smile!

Summer Lovin’

Happy June 1st! Summer is officially upon us and I couldn’t be happier. My only complaint is that the heat is already kicking in and there’s nothing I can do about it. However, I’m really looking forward to beach trips, BBQs, suntanning, blonde streaks in my hair, and lots of ice cream.

Over the weekend, I enjoyed lounging by the pool tanning! I brought with me 30 SPF sunscreen, flavored water, sunnies, and a few old fashion magazines. I’m flipping through the magazines and cutting out little things from their ads or whatever I find that inspires me. Things like a certain font type used, color scheme, item, or style is fair game. After I’ve gone through a few more, I’ll be posting them onto a bulletin board I have in my room and feeding off that inspiration as I work with a graphic designer on my blog redesign! I’m so excited about the next steps in this process.

Throughout my whole blogging adventure, I’ve learned so much. One of the things I learned was a quote from someone, I don’t remember who, but it basically said “She designed a life she loved.” That’s what I’ve been doing with this blog and other things in my life. I’m taking full responsibility of my dreams and making them happen. Look for more updates and hints in the near future!

Coffee Mug Lust List

Thank God it’s Friday! I love this day probably a little too much. I think we all do though. Friday nights during the summer are just the best! Summer nights in general are the best though. I’m sitting on my deck right now sipping my morning coffee and listening to the sounds of construction going on in the building next to me. Gotta love it. Nothing can bring me down though, I’ve got my coffee!

Lust List

I have quite the collection of coffee mugs that I should really show you guys at some point. Recently, I came across quite a few new ones to put on my lust list though. They’re just so cute and I want them all! I’m also working on a little coffee station in my apartment that I’ll be showing you all at some point. I’m linking each of the coffee mugs below so you know where to find them!

April Showers

april_showers

Happy Friday beauties! I look forward to this day every week not only because it’s the start of my glamorous weekends (kidding), but because usually our weather starts to change again. I swear it has a weekly cycle it goes through. Right now, we’re in the rainy stage of it. It’s been gray and overcast for the last few days and I’m tired of it. They say “April showers bring May flowers” though.

Since April is the Mid-Atlantic’s rainiest season, I haven’t been thinking much about the loveliness that spring holds. Like I said, the skies are overcast and dropping enough rain to last what seems like a lifetime. In the midst of all this gray, I’ve tried to incorporate color into my life. It’s like that quote from Albert Camus, “In the midst of winter I found there was within me an invincible summer.” No matter the weather, live like everything is alive and blooming.

Go for a walk in the rain and wear bright rain boots. Drink some tea and admire the buds on the trees. Buy a vibrant accessory for the season. Spring is all about hope and the knowledge that tomorrow will be even more beautiful. Enjoy the rain and all that comes with, because it brings the most extraordinary things in May!

Top 6 Typography Prints

Hello fabulous friends! I love Sunday mornings. My routine is just so much more relaxing than any other day of the week. I like to start out with a cup of coffee and salted caramel biscotti and sit by the fire while I read the day’s headlines and check my Instagram feed. It’s the little things right?

Lately, I’ve been noticing a trend on Etsy and Instagram that many bloggers and artsy types are “currently coveting”- typography prints. These are the cute quotes, graphics, and icons you see on famous bloggers and Instagrammers desks and other styled spaces. I have several different prints on my walls and am looking to get a smaller one for my little desk.

I’d love to learn how to create my own typography prints but I think most people use Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator for their creations. Eventually, I’d really like to start an online boutique where I can create the things I’d most love to see on the market. Until I can do that, I’ll stick to admiring other people’s work. As a matter of fact, I was going through Etsy pages and saw six different prints I loved! I can’t buy all of them but I’d like your opinion on the best one. Comment below!
