Fall Home Decor from Etsy

fall coffee mugs

Happy Monday everyone! Since Labor Day is kind of like the official end of summer vacation and endless beach days, I figured I’d get a jump start on all the fun fall decorating. Growing up, my mom always made our home so beautiful for autumn. We had a “fall tree” in our dining room all decorated with pretty leaves and twinkly lights. The front steps would always have pumpkins, chrysanthemums, and dried corn stalks arranged nicely for a warm, welcoming entrance. Best of all, a cinnamon-pumpkin candle would always be burning in the kitchen when you walked in. These are the things memories are made of! In my own home/apartment, I want to make the same lovely memories!

I love browsing Etsy for unique decorative items. Some of my favorite things are instant download printable artwork. I buy several frames at Michael’s and then download pretty seasonal art to put in them and then switch out for the next season. This is probably the least expensive decorating tip I have! Anyway, for fall Etsy didn’t disappoint. Between adorable pumpkin spice latte mugs and “hocus pocus” tees, I think everyone can find something to suit their fancy here! Fall Coffee Bar

Fall Coffee Bar

Good morning lovelies. It’s Monday again (will it ever just stop coming?) and I’m just not loving it like I should be. For whatever reason, some of the motivational-types in the blogging community have tried to convince the rest of us that Mondays are a gift and should be used to get as much done as possible. Are they kidding? I’m thrilled when I put makeup on and fold my laundry on Mondays.

In all seriousness though, I do get a lot done at the start of the new work week if I have a good night’s rest the evening before AND if I have my coffee in the morning. As someone who loves to decorate for every holiday and season, having a seasonal coffee bar is a little slice of paradise! In keeping with the trends, what better way to enjoy a coffee bar than on a bar cart?

Start with the basics, what color scheme do you like? I prefer gold, burnt orange, and cream. Something like orange, navy, and dark purple might be nice too. Since not all of us have bar carts sitting around much less a budget to buy one, a suitable alternative would be a nice entry way table like the ones you put your keys on when you walk in the house.

From there, add pumpkins, a bowl of apples, a tin of biscotti, or even pre-lit tree branches in a vase for a romantic look. I also think a tassel garland hanging off the side of a coffee bar or above it on the wall is really pretty! Keep the coffee maker on the top of bar cart with the little extras like cinnamon, nutmeg, or pumpkin spice. Add a candle or reed diffuser for decoration.

On the bottom of the cart put your coffee bags, mugs, stir sticks, and other coffee accessories. Depending on the size of the space your working in, less really can be more. I love to add decoration but I don’t like clutter. There’s a fine line!

In the fridge keep whipped cream, coffee creamers, milk, and syrups. To keep the cravings under control (and the coffee budget), write down any Starbucks drink recipes you like on pretty index cards and keep them at the bar. It’s really great to have around when you have company too! What better way to make guests feel welcome than a homemade pumpkin spice latte?

5 Fall Recipes to Try

psl season

Yesterday I was sitting at Starbucks (shocking) drinking a PSL and scrolling through my Pinterest. Like any good pinner would do, I repinned all of the fall-themed things to my “Everything Autumn” board. I’ve had a Pinterest account for the last 4 years and have accumulated over 13,000 pins, a few hundred of those are pretty much all things pumpkin. After going through a few of those pins, I came across several recipes that I thought I might share with you! As promised, they’re centered around fall! They’re all linked below to the original pin. Click on the pin when you get there and it’ll take you to the website where you can get the recipe. I can attest to how good that Crockpot Apple Crisp is!

Autumn Bucket List

Autumn Weather
Happy Monday friends! My weekend was so beautiful! After it finished raining, the sun came out and the sky was so blue. I opened the windows and doors in my apartment to get some fresh air. The breeze felt amazing. I sat on my balcony with some coffee and enjoyed a short Pinterest session before heading out to run errands.
I was thinking to myself what are the ten things on my fall bucket list for this year? I feel like every year I create one but do you think I do anything on it? Nope. I’m going to try to change that though. Sadly, I only came up with eight things on my bucket list.
  1. Dress up for Halloween (I haven’t done this since I was 10)
  2. Make my own pumpkin spice latte
  3. Carve a pumpkin on my own (no help from dad this time)
  4. Enjoy a corn maze without slipping in the inevitably muddy ground
  5. See New England’s leaves
  6. Have a bonfire with friends
  7. Do a fall photo shoot with my sister
  8. Attempt a fall-themed craft

What’s on your fall bucket list? Leave me a comment!

Pumpkin Spice and Paint

Happy Friday! I really shouldn’t complain about how long my week has been since I’ve spent the last two weeks exploring Texas, but I’m tired. I’ll be unwinding by the pool tomorrow and then decorating my parents’ house for Autumn Sunday! Little things like that give us reasons to be happy I think.

Speaking of happy things, I went with a friend to a fun place in my town called Wine & Design! The idea behind it is people getting together to have a glass of wine and paint. I did a painting here a year or so ago with my friend Lindsey and we painted a bird in sunset (post here). This time, my friend Amanda and her soon-to-be roommate Caitlin went to paint a fall themed canvas!

Amanda and I have known each other since before Kindergarten. When we were painting I remembered in my memory box that I still had one of her birthday party invitations. She remembered that at one of my birthdays she wore a frilly dress and socks thinking it was a party to dress up for. Apparently it wasn’t! Several of us ended up riding bikes and she fell off of hers. Good times.

Before we started painting, we inventoried our supplies- paint brushes, paper towels, aprons, mason jar full of water to rinse our brushes in, and finally paint saucers. For the painting we did, we only used black, white, mustard, brick red, royal blue, and brown.

Our instructor, Angelica, was really incredible! She’s from Mexico originally but went to college for art in Los Angeles. While we were painting our canvases she was putting the finishing touches on this gorgeous mason jar canvas!

The finished product was amazing! The best part was that everyone’s canvas looked a little different. We all put our own unique touches on our artwork. I just love mine. It’s the perfect decoration for the coming season.

Here are a few other pretty paintings that were hung up all around the studio! The black cat in the pumpkin is my favorite! The cat belongs to Angelica and she told me that she adopted her from the animal shelter after someone had found her behind our local Taco Bell. Ironically, I remember several times last year trying to get her to come to me but she was too scared. I’m so happy she has a good home now!

Here’s the link to the studio in my town! Have a lovely weekend!
