Christmas Tree Farm in Flower Mound & Choosing Decoration Styles

flower mound christmas tree farmHi everyone! It’s been such a busy December so far between Christmas parties and work. David and I both work in a similar industry so planning for the first quarter of 2019 is in full swing. We did get time to go out to a Christmas tree farm in Flower Mound to get a real tree though! I was so excited! I haven’t had a real tree since I was little and frankly, I had no idea how heavy these things were until David and I had to drag it into the house. It smells SO good though! I’m still decorating it and slowly gathering lights, ribbon, and ornaments to put all over it.

My Hallmark loving self was hoping it would snow and fuzzy mittens would be required for the day but no such luck.

Christmas Tree Decoration Styles

I was scrolling through my Instagram feed earlier looking at how everyone decorates their Christmas trees and holy smokes, I need to step my game up! Between all the gorgeous flocked trees and the crazy amount of ornaments on them, I definitely feel a little behind on my decorating. I’ve always had a difficult time deciding if I want a “designer tree” with a color scheme and lovely ribbon all over it, or if I want an old fashioned tree with heirloom ornaments and popcorn strings. When David and I buy a home, I’m going to have both because I think both are fabulous!

Also, how cute is this doormat?! I found it at Target for $10! I put it on my front step and hung a wreath on our door! I love outdoor Christmas decorations but crazy enough, our house right now doesn’t have electrical outlets outside! I was so bummed when I discovered that! So I can’t put twinkle lights on our bushes or inflate a big snowman on our lawn. I’m way not happy about that so the doormat will have to suffice. Sigh.

Fall Style Classic: Flannel at the Dallas Arboretum

Hey everyone! It really feels like fall right now in Dallas and I just got around to visiting the Dallas Arboretum’s Pumpkin Village! Its been raining a ton here and there were a few hours of sunshine Sunday morning so David surprised me with tickets! Last Christmas, he surprised me with tickets to their 12 Days of Christmas light display and that was lovely. The Pumpkin Village may have topped it though!

So everything was soaked when we walked through there but that didn’t stop me from wearing my favorite leather boots and sitting on damp pumpkins! David followed me around taking photos as requested and made sure to get a cute one of me in the pumpkin patch wearing this adorable Lauren James flannel boyfriend shirt. I bought it last March during one of their sales and I kid you not it was on clearance for $8! I should have bought two and could smack myself for not. Here’s a similar one, although not on sale.

I definitely recommend investing in some flannel for fall and winter. Its always been a staple in any wardrobe and I can’t fathom it going away in the future. My favorite times of the year to buy flannel shirts, dresses, and even blankets are in late winter or early spring. Brands like L.L. Bean, Kiel James Patrick, and J. Crew put a lot of their winter basics on sale or clearance right around then so its the perfect time to stock up! As for now, watch for Christmas sales from these brands because they do a lot of gift-giving promotions and things like flannel scarves are popular sale items! Happy shopping!

Fall Style Wish List for 2018

fall style wish list

Happy Friday everyone! I’ve been counting down to the weekend for a million reasons but largely because my paycheck hits my bank account and I can do a little retail therapy! Wahoo! The temperatures have been dropping a little recently and I’ve been breaking out a sweater here and there but my closet would definitely appreciate a few more hanging inside. That and some new boots!

I’ve always had a hard time figuring out what my style is when it comes to fall fashion. I love classic cable knit sweaters and duck boots but I’m also a big fan of the slouchy, off the shoulder sweaters and over the knee boots everyone wears. A bit of preppy, a bit of on trend! I think that’s the best part of personal style, you can do it all or none of it if you want to!

So in case you haven’t noticed, tassels are really on trend for the spring and summer! Although in Dallas, both of those seasons kind of run together because it’s already in the 80s everyday, but nonetheless tassels are popular for the foreseeable future! I’m a style blogger who prefers classic styles to trendy fashions, however even I can get on board with the tassel trend.

One thing I always like to keep in mind when shopping for trendy items is the price and how much use I’ll get out of it. Seeing as how tassels may not be in style next year, I’m keeping my “tassel shopping budget” low and dropping into stores like Forever21 and Target to find a few seasonal favorites! Everything you see here is under $50!

My most recent find is that adorable pink tassel bikini I featured above! Seriously, oh my goodness it’s adorable. The bottoms have tassels the tie on the hips and the top has tassels that tie in the back. The best part is, I found it on clearance too! Browse through some of the links above and leave me a comment with your favorite tasseled item!

how to style chambray shirt

This dress is so comfortable and so easy to style. I found those adorable tassel earrings on sale and decided to wear them with the dress and the rest of the outfit just kinda came together. Gotta admit that tying my chambray shirt around my waist was a total gamble on looking cute in 90’s era styles but I think I pulled it off! Grab a few of these dresses while they’re still in stock and on sale! (Link here). Comment below with your go-to spring styles!
