Masquerade Balls and Red Lipstick

Does anyone have Halloween plans? Because I do, and I really want to share them with you! I can’t remember the last time I did anything for Halloween. Every time I lived in a major city during that time of the year, I was too “young” to go out and obviously too old to trick or treat, though it was suggested. This year my boyfriend and I are going out with his sister and brother-in-law for a masquerade ball at an old haunted inn in San Antonio!

masquerade ball

What am I wearing? A floor length, black, mermaid style gown and of course, a masque. The masque I bought is actually from Pier 1 Imports. Supposedly it’s made in Venice (I have my doubts) and it only cost me $30. Not bad for something so beautiful and delicate. I like that it’s simple with only a lace pattern and a few rhinestones on it. There were so many to choose from but quite a few of them made me look like a bird, which I didn’t want.

nars lipstick

Since I’m wearing all black, I wanted to add some color to my face so I don’t appear washed out. I’ll be wearing Nars “Cruella” on my lips. This is the best lip pencil/stick. The color stays on for several hours and is really vibrant! I’ll also be doing my nails in a red color with a gold accent on my ring finger.

studded belt

To add some glam to my dress, I’m adding this Ann Taylor belt to it. The belt is stretchy and snaps in the back for comfort. Can you believe that I found it for $5? Neither can I, but I honestly did. I won’t be showing you the dress until we’ve taken some decent pictures of it, but it’s beautiful! Let me know what your Halloween plans are in a comment below!

Easter Decor Inspiration

Easter is right around the corner and I didn’t realize it until I looked at my calendar. Why do these holidays sneak up on me?  I love to decorate and bake cute things for the season and I can’t do that if I’m not anticipating the holiday!

I love spring because of the colors and the warm temperatures. 68 degrees and pastel decor is just wonderful to me! I was browsing through a few stores the other day doing my own little inventory of the cute spring stuff they had in. I saw plenty of inspiring things that have me overly excited for the upcoming season and I’m sharing my favorites with you!

All of my favorite Easter things came from Target, Pier 1 Imports, and Crate & Barrel. They seriously have the most adorable things for decent prices. I’m always walking out of those stores wanting to decorate and make things pretty. What are your favorite stores to feel inspired in?

Pier 1 Imports Style

Have you ever found something you absolutely fell in love with and then looked at the price tag? That happened to me yesterday. I went to Pier 1 Imports just to see what they had on clearance and sitting right in front of me when I walked in was this gorgeous sofa. It was a light cream with a tufted back and overly stuffed pillows. It was also $899. For some, that’s a decent price, but for a recent college grad swimming in debt, it’s too much.

I continued looking around the store and daydreaming of filling my future apartment with all the pretty things I wanted. A look at my bank account reminded me yet again that I should promptly exit the store. Nonetheless, I figured I’d share with you a few of my favorite living room pieces that I saw. Hopefully, you’ll daydream with me!

I’m confident I can achieve this look without spending the small fortune it would cost to buy it all at Pier 1. I visited Marshall’s a short while later and fell in love with similar things at a fraction of the price. When I officially move, I’ll probably be buying furniture a little bit at a time so I can pay in cash and not go into more debt. I’ll update y’all when that does happen so you can follow along in my interior design journey!

Fall Bucket List

Hello Fall

A little fall inspiration for today! Its a lovely day outside and I can’t help but want to decorate everything and drink a million pumpkin spice lattes. So instead of doing all of that I’ve made a fall to-do list!

1. Corn Maze– Isn’t this a necessity of every kid who grew up anywhere near the country side?

2. Make Apple Crisp- I have an amazing recipe for this yummy, crock pot warmed dessert that I made last year. I’ll try to post it later because you will fall in love.

3. Carve a Pumpkin– I haven’t done this since I was a kid and I never did it very well. This year I think I’ll try a little harder. I’m thinking of doing a Tinker Bell pattern! Thoughts?

4. Make my Own Pumpkin Spice Latte– I went into Starbucks last week and got my first latte of the season… and it cost me $4.35. Yikes. Prices went up from last year. I’m going to be looking for a way to make my own at home.

5. Have a Campfire– Snuggle up in a flannel blanket and sit by a cozy fire outside while drinking apple cider. Sounds good to me.

6. Find the Perfect Fall Coffee Mug– I have an obsession with coffee mugs and I don’t have a cute one for autumn!

7. Rock a Puffer Vest– Ok, so I don’t have the coveted J Crew herringbone vest but I have a few other cute ones I have to wear. Watch for a post!

8. Watch a Football Game– Football bores me but I don’t understand it either. So this fall I’ll try and sit through a game to see if I can figure the darn thing out.

9. Go Hiking in the Mountains– I live near the Blue Ridge mountain range and I have to visit at some point. It’s so gorgeous when the leaves are changing!

10. Organize my Fall Wardrobe– For once I’ll pack up my summer stuff and put it in the attic and exclusively wear the warm, cozy clothes I’ve spent so much money on. Lord, help me.

What’s on your bucket list?

Autumn Decorating Ideas

Autumn Decoration Ideas

I absolutely love autumn and all the colors that come with it. I love decorating the house with little touches of warmth and comfort I associate with fall. It just brings in the season with that much more decoration and happiness. Growing up, my mom was always really good at this. She liked to burn pumpkin and cinnamon scented candles and string garlands of leaves across the top of our kitchen cabinets. We even had a “harvest tree” in our living room. It stood about 5 feet high and looked like a pine tree (the bottom half was made to look like tree bark) and the top half was dark green. We would be cute little fall ornaments on it for fun.

Now that I’m older, I have created my own sense of decoration. I couldn’t fit everything I love into one post but I managed to fit a few things. I thought the color scheme of gold, brown, cream, burnt orange, and touches of sparkle were really nice for the season. It’s soft and manages to fit with a neutral color palette.

I love the little fox and owl I added in for a touch of whimsy. They’re so cute! I was also a fan of the clear glass bottles because I think it would be cute to pour some gold or burgundy sparkles or sequins into them.

A fun idea I had with the gold picture frame is to print a spooky looking picture of an old house or scary looking military general from 100 years ago and put the photo in the frame. If you aren’t into the scary idea, frame a picture of fall scenery such as mountains or a tree lined walkway. Just make sure the colors of the image don’t clash with the frame.

The leather basket would be the perfect place to hold flannel blankets or other things to wrap up in when you have company or just want to settle down and relax. I probably couldn’t do this at my house because I’d have a kitty in the basket in no time!

Finally, the acorns added that adorable aspect of fall that we associate with cold weather coming. The large vase adds the sparkle and shimmer that I love so much. Add a branch (like the one above) dipped in a nice color the compliments it. Better yet, add more sparkle!

Hope you enjoy these fun, little decorating ideas. Enjoy the start of the season! It goes so fast!
