Summer Lovin’ in Shades of Purple

The Power of Pastels

pastel_colorsYesterday was a perfect day for sporting pastel colors. It was grocery shopping day and to add some life to an otherwise dull event, I decided the only sensible solution was to look cute. In this outfit, it literally makes me glow because it’s so bright with pastel colors and the sun reflecting off of them!

Like I’ve said in previous posts, in my town you can go pretty much anywhere in sweats or jeans and a t-shirt. I still like to dress up a little more because it’s good for my mental health and self-confidence.

For this outfit, I’m wearing a New York & Company pastel purple top, white J Crew shorts, Rampage sandals, gold Aldo ring, and a New York & Company necklace. Everything I found on clearance in the past year. I can’t guarantee that these things are still available so I’ve found a few other items that are comparable and affordable.

My biggest tip though? Wait for everything to be cut down to at least 50% off. I never buy full priced items unless it’s a staple piece that I want to last for a really long time. With tops and jewelry like what I’m wearing, you can afford to be a little more picky with how much you spend because before you know it the trend will be over and you didn’t waste a lot of your money.

Outfit of the Day!

This is my first post doing my outfit of the day and I’m excited to share with you more about my style and taste! At first, I thought these types of posts were kind of vain. However, I get a lot of ideas from other girls on cute outfits and little accessories to add to my wardrobe.

ann_taylor_loftMy outfit today consists of a cute little jersey dress from Ann Taylor Loft (I found it on sale several years ago, so here’s a similar version). I love the little belt that goes with it. It isn’t meant to make a statement but it sucks you in at the waist, which is always nice!

I took this picture earlier with the help of my dear mom in my front yard. We live in the woods so the green trees are in abundance and frankly, who doesn’t love a little greenery in a photo?

Here’s a front view of my dress. It’s the perfect outfit for a day when you ann_taylor_loftwant to feel pretty but also want to feel comfy. It’s also a very breathable fabric (cotton) so I love it for hot summer days like today! Did I mention cap sleeves are really cute? Because they are!

Here are my favorite parts of an outfit: accessories! My shoes I found at Burlington Coat Factory for $10 by Rampage. My bracelet is an old Forever 21 find. Here’s a similar bracelet I like even more! My necklace is also a Forever 21 find from last fall and I can’t find it online anywhere. However, they have produced a similar one!

Tell me what you think! I love to hear your opinions!

Fourth of July Fashion!

Hello everyone! In true Fourth of July fashion I’m sporting the red, white, and blue! This is one of my favorite holidays as my family came here from Ireland, Scotland, and several other European countries in search of freedom and opportunity. That was 100 years ago. Now, I enjoy the benefits of being a pure bred American girl!

Fourth_of_july_outfitAnyway, my outfit consists of a lacey red top from Banana Republic (on sale!) White 3 inch inseam shorts from JCrew (also on sale!) My sandals are from Rampage and I found them at Burlington Coat Factory for $10.

My necklace is from Forever 21 and the anchor earrings are from Aldo.Essie_nails The nail polish is Essie in “Secret Lining” and my sunnies are from Ann Taylor.

Comment below with your outfit of the day! Happy 4th of July! God Bless my beautiful America!
