The Perfect Brightening Moisturizing

Valentia pure glow moisturizer

Hey gals! I hope your week is going well! I’m still settling into the dry heat here in Dallas. This Maryland girl is used to humidity! The first time I ever saw a cactus was in San Antonio and I just about flipped, I thought it was the coolest thing! In the same moment I noticed that the ground was cracked open. Such a bizarre thing to see for someone who grew up by the water! With all this dry heat, my skin has suffered and gets flaky throughout the day. My skin is also sensitive, so I have to be careful with moisturizers. Luckily, I tried Valentia Pure Glow Brightening Moisturizer and it worked wonders on my skin!

healthy glowing skin

Like I said, my skin is sensitive! When I first tried the moisturizer, I was a little nervous. It doesn’t take much for my skin to itch and burn from a simple ingredient. I was pleasantly surprised when my skin felt good and dare I say, happy? The moisturizing ingredients are paraben free (parabens are a kind of makeup preservative) and can even be pronounced! Things like ginseng and shea butter are in this productDSC_2160

The process of putting it on is simple: Put it on before your makeup or before you go to bed (or both if your skin is extra dry). If you want the full Valentia regiment, use the cleansing and toning serums. I love that it’s a cream and not an oil or butter-like paste. A little goes a long way too, which I appreciate as beauty products can empty the pocket book pretty fast!

Anytime I’ve ever gone into a beauty store and bought a skincare item, the salespeople always ask me if I have a good moisturizer. That’s how important skincare is. Makeup can’t work wonders without a good base to start with. Taking care of our skin is so important to keep it healthy and looking nice!

Little Luxuries for the Master Bath

Hello lovelies! This weekend I took a break from the blog to get some things done and hang out with a few friends. Sometimes a girl just needs that, you know? I also had some time to just lounge around my house and encourage my creative side. Since I’m working on getting my first “big girl” job and my own apartment, I created a visual to go along with my list of design must-haves in my master bath.

master_bath_room

  • Fluffy towels because no one wants red marks on their skin after using a towel
  • Good soap (aka, better than the stuff you get at Bath and Body Works)
  • Flowers for a natural element
  • Jewelry tray
  • Small candles
  • Glass jars for bathroom necessities like cotton balls or bobby pins
  • An ottoman for my weekly pedicure
  • Artwork because bare walls are so boring
  • Storage baskets, I can’t stand things not being stored properly

I’m spoiled, I know. I really believe that a woman’s bathroom should feel like an escape. We spend all of our time getting ready here so why shouldn’t it be luxurious? I also think that luxury shouldn’t have to cost a fortune. I was browsing through Marshall’s the other day and found all of these things for a 1/4 of the retail price. Some day I’ll be able to afford Restoration Hardware, but for now I’ll stick to my bargain hunting.

Spring Pottery Barn Collection

Snow is on the ground outside my window again and I’m housebound. Again. As much as I delight in this fluffy stuff while I’m on the ski slopes, I don’t enjoy it when I’m at home in Maryland and trying to get things done. During my recent trip to Charleston, I indulged in a few lovely spring things to remind me that the end is near. I hopped on over to Pottery Barn (see what I did there?) and took in a few pretty things.

Although I have no big house of my own to decorate or even an apartment to style, I still daydream about the home decor endeavors I will eventually take on when I marry my rich, handsome husband (speaking of which, where are you, bro!?). There’s nothing wrong with that, right? We can all dream!

Pottery Barn Style

Is there nothing more beautiful than hydrangeas in the spring? I could just look at them all day. I’m hoping to run to the market quite often this spring to pick up a bouquet that can sit on my table. Flowers bring a home to life!

Another love I have is animal print! I won’t wear fur but I certainly like faux fur blankets and pillows. Spring can still be chilly so I like to keep around the cozy luxuries of the winter. Honestly though, when is animal print not in style? Always appropriate!

I also adore crisp white bedding with distinct spring/summer colored accessories. Throw pillows and blankets really make a bedroom inviting. When I retreat to my room, I want to feel relaxed and content. Coordinating colors does just that for me.

Do you see a trend here? I love animal print! Believe it or not, these are candles in jars covered with cheetah faux fur. You can score them for about $35. Still cheaper than Dyptique so count your blessings!

tufted_couch

Something I’m trying this spring is to mix cool and warm colors like this. The dark fur on the throws and the off-white throw with the gray tufted couch is really beautiful! Understated elegance at it’s finest.

Last but not least, I’m in love with the way this dresser is set up. There’s a lot of interesting things going on here. The candelabras are several sizes, the glasses around them are very robust, and the tray to the left enhances that sense of height that the other objects give.

Tell me about your Pottery Barn love in a comment below!

Kate Spade Wish List

kate_spade_giftsHappy Tuesday beautiful friends. Yesterday, I spent most of the day drinking coffee and lounging around in sweats. The weather was icky and I’ve discovered that nothing looks pretty soaking wet. On the bright side, I made my Christmas wish list! Sort of. Everything on it is just a bit too expensive and any parent or friend who spends this much on their loved one needs to know that money won’t buy you love! I will admit though, that I love these products. However, what I’m really paying for when purchasing them is the name that happens to adorn said product. And unlike other style bloggers, you won’t see me sporting my brand new $350 handbag or $400 ballet flats in a cute style post or Instagram photo (#jealous much, Liz?) My life is just too realistic for that. If it weren’t so darn realistic, then this is what my wish list would look like:

1. Cedar Street Large Monday in Dynasty Red- $198

2. Leather Bow Gloves in Deco Beige- $128

3. Garden Drive Jewelry Box in Black- $40

4. Small Square Studs in Glitter Navy- $38

5. Daisy Place Medium Square Dish– $40

6. Animal Print Tiny Metro in Cheetah- $150

7. Toast Flats– $228

8. Skinny Bow Belt– $78

My New and Free Personal Stylist

stylit_appHappy weekend y’all! I hope your days off are full of relaxation and… shopping! I have a fabulous website for you to check out that will certainly inspire the fashionista in you! It’s called Stylit.com and it will take the world by storm once beta testing is over. I have had it for a few months and there’s only a few glitches but otherwise its really neat to have.

If you’re like me, you walk into a store or go to your closet and wonder what the heck you’re going to wear. Stylit pretty much does it for you by sending you a few outfit ideas a week based on your personal style test results. Most pieces of the outfits we all typically have in various colors and styles but it jogs your memory on how you can wear these pieces.

Today was one of those days when I could have and should have checked for outfit ideas because I had no idea what to wear so I settled on white shorts and mint colored hoodie. Boring. It just felt too “High School Musical” for someone about to graduate college.

Anyway, below are a few pictures that illustrate the greatness of this website/app. Let me know what your favorite look is and if you sign up!
