Apartment Inspiration

Hello loves! Yesterday, I mentioned that I’m apartment hunting in my future place of residence- Charleston, SC- so today I thought I might show you a few things that are inspiring me in terms of how I’m going to decorate!

The colors I’m going with are gray, light pink, white, black, and gold. Of course, I’m adding in touches of glitter everywhere! Pretty fonts like the one you see below will also adorn my walls as I think they add so much personality to a room. I want a touch of whimsy in the main living area!

In my bedroom, I’m really hoping to keep the color palette to black and white with hints of pink and some silver. Based on all the little accessories and decorative items I’ve collected over the past few years, I think I can pull this look off. I’m going to be looking for a large floor-length mirror to put in a corner so I can take better pictures of my #ootd!

I absolutely adore the colors in this floral arrangement. Pink, cream, and lilac are so feminine. I’m a huge believer in keeping plants in the house during the winter months because we need something green and living to look at during the day. It’s an instant mood-lifter! pink_flowers

Last but not least on my inspiration list, the kitchen! Will my first place have a kitchen like this? No, probably not. However, incorporating these elements (texture, color, and pattern) will make my bland kitchen totally glam. I’ll be raiding TJ Maxx for their discounted designer kitchen wear! I’ll keep you posted!

Pier 1 Imports Style

Have you ever found something you absolutely fell in love with and then looked at the price tag? That happened to me yesterday. I went to Pier 1 Imports just to see what they had on clearance and sitting right in front of me when I walked in was this gorgeous sofa. It was a light cream with a tufted back and overly stuffed pillows. It was also $899. For some, that’s a decent price, but for a recent college grad swimming in debt, it’s too much.

I continued looking around the store and daydreaming of filling my future apartment with all the pretty things I wanted. A look at my bank account reminded me yet again that I should promptly exit the store. Nonetheless, I figured I’d share with you a few of my favorite living room pieces that I saw. Hopefully, you’ll daydream with me!

I’m confident I can achieve this look without spending the small fortune it would cost to buy it all at Pier 1. I visited Marshall’s a short while later and fell in love with similar things at a fraction of the price. When I officially move, I’ll probably be buying furniture a little bit at a time so I can pay in cash and not go into more debt. I’ll update y’all when that does happen so you can follow along in my interior design journey!

Living Room Styling Tips

modani_furniture

As many of you know, I love interior design and creating a space to reflect a mood. Modani Modern Furniture has a very unique style of furniture and recently released a collection of sofas. For this post, I chose the “White Phantom Sofa” in their Modern collection as my centerpiece. The look I was aiming for is ‘modern glamor’. The reflective surfaces in the accessories create the glamor affect while the shapes and whimsical nature of each piece ties in the modern aspect.

Probably my favorite accessory I’ve featured is the mirror.  It brings in an element of old-world charm I wouldn’t expect to find paired with these modern pieces. The best thing I’ve learned about designing a space is to use both traditional and contemporary furniture. By doing this, you’ll have a look that doesn’t go out of style quickly. When the trend does end, you’ll only need to replace a few dated items instead of everything.

Something else I love about this look is how bright it is. The only time I would ever consider using dark furniture is in a large room or a room that gets a lot of sunlight during the day, otherwise dark colors makes the room look smaller. I used gray, white, silver, and a pop of pink as my color scheme because they reflect light making the room appear bigger. I realize that not everyone can have white furniture because its prone to stains. In this case, choose a light gray or even a darker cream color to achieve a similar look without all the fuss of keeping it clean.

Be sure to check out these and other Modani furniture styles on their website. I found quite a few things I’m in love with!
