How to Add a Touch of Luxury to Your Bathroom

luxury bathrooms dallas

Hey girls! I hope your week is going fast and you have something to look forward to this weekend. Every single day this week has flown by (knock on wood) and I hope it continues that way. I can’t stand to sit at a desk bored all day long. Luckily, my job keeps me busy pretty much all day long. By the time I get home every day, all I want is a nice, hot bath and lots of sleep.

One of my favorite things about my bathroom is the pretty granite countertops and the cute little linen closet in the corner. No matter what kind of bathroom you have, I think it should be a beautiful space for you to get ready for the day in and then come home and relax in. Here are a few simple ways you can add a touch of luxury to any bathroom on a budget.

Luxury bathroom on a Budget

guess perfume

I have so many perfume bottles sitting on my bathroom counter that it looks like I raided the perfume counter at Macy’s! Adding pretty perfume bottles to your space is a simple way to add the luxe-feel to your bathroom. If you don’t have any, check out antique or thrift stores from some old ones you can reuse.

scented bathroom candles

If I’m taking a bath, you can bet I’m going to light a candle! My favorites are Jordan Cordori soy candles made here in Dallas. David and I got one from the Dallas Farmer’s Market (see previous post) last weekend and it smells divine! Little white candles like these just add so much to a bathroom!

apothecary jars

One of my favorite things to add to a bathroom counter top is an apothecary jar. It’s simple and only requires a dusting every so often. Depending on how big your counter is, you can add a few short or tall ones and fill them with things like cotton balls or bars of soap. They’re pretty and provide added storage in plain sight!

whole foods beauty products

Instead of hand soaps with pumps, go with a traditional bar of soap! Nothing says luxury like a pretty soap dish and a matching bar of lightly scented soap. How lovely does this look? After brunch the other day, I went into Whole Foods the other day (I realize how pretentious that sounds) and they had bars of soap on sale for $1 each. This one smells like vanilla!

My final touches of luxury for the bathroom are fluffy white rugs like the ones featured above and white high quality bathroom towels. These little details added so much to my bathroom when I finally bought them! It looks clean and crisp and always presentable for unexpected guests. Enjoy your luxury bathroom!

Fall Style for the Dallas Farmer’s Market

Dallas farmers market

Top: Old Navy// Shorts: Abercrombie// Bag: Kate Spade// Scarf: Pacsun//

Aviators: J. Crew// Shoes: DSW

Happy Monday gals! I can’t believe it’s the last Monday of September. I feel like this month has just flown by. Between starting my new job and decorating for my favorite season, I’ve been a busy girl! Honestly, it doesn’t feel like fall in Texas yet. It’s still 90 degrees everyday and you really can’t wear blanket scarves and quilted vests. I’ve had to incorporate fall colors into my wardrobe instead!

pumpkin spice everything

On Saturday, my boyfriend David and I went to the Dallas Farmer’s Market to enjoy the local produce and get a bite to eat. There were a few greeneries there and they had quite a few pumpkins! Pumpkin everything is the fastest way to this girl’s heart! David posted a picture of us together on his Facebook with a caption that read “I have taken way too many pictures in front of pumpkins today”. I laughed so hard. He’s a real-life “Instagram husband”!

dressing for autumn

As I said earlier, it’s too warm in Texas to dress for fall. My closet is full of warm sweaters, denim, scarves, boots, and cute button ups that I can’t wear yet! I get so jealous whenever I see my Instagram followers posting pictures of themselves all bundled up in cute plaid and riding boots up north. Y’all look so cute crunching through the leaves with your pumpkin spice lattes! For the farmer’s market, I wore some cream-colored lace shorts and a military green tank top with a black and white scarf for a touch of fall style.

stylish fall looks

Since quite a few of my readers are from Texas, I’ll just tell you that the easiest way to make the fall seem like fall is to wear seasonal colors! It always makes me feel like I’m not missing out as much. The Dallas Farmer’s Market was the perfect place to sport some pretty green and cream colors without wearing traditional layers and sweltering in the heat! Being away from my home state of Maryland has made me appreciate growing up surrounded by such beauty all of the time. You just take that for granted until you don’t have it anymore!

Hope you enjoyed my look! It’s super simple and easy to wear for an afternoon out. Next time, I might pair the tank with some white denim and boots. I think it would look really cute! Leave a comment with your favorite fall activity!

Chelles Macarons In Dallas

Macarons dallas texas

Hey girls! Is this week dragging or is it just me? Weekends go by so quickly and then the weekdays just take forever. Since I’m new to Dallas, my boyfriend and I spend every Saturday and Sunday exploring a new part of Dallas. I never realized how big this city was until my Apple maps completely malfunctioned and ended up trying to direct me down a one way!

We spent Sunday at the local farmer’s market and I was thrilled to find so many little restaurants there. David took me to a macaron bakery and let me pick out a few flavors to try! Who knew how expensive those delicate little treats were? 6 macarons cost $12, but my goodness it was worth it!

The bakery is called Chelles Macarons and they have the cutest little shop at the farmer’s market. Even better, they deliver via Grub Hub and Amazon Prime! How cool is that? After browsing the display case for a few minutes, we decided to try Fruity Pebbles, Vanilla Bean, Coffee, Candied Watermelon, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Lemon Berry! My mouth was watering by the time we got home to eat them!

I’ve tried many macarons in my lifetime, and these were some of the best I’ve had! I plan on having some delivered in the next few weeks just because they’re so yummy, and let’s face it, they make for great Instagram posts. If you’re in Dallas, go try some for yourself!

City Market Date in Kansas City

weekend style vibes

Happy Monday beauties! I hope your weekend was lovely and you got to do something you enjoyed! Right now, I’m sitting by a fire (the last one until the fall) and watching some reruns of Friends. The sound of a fire crackling is so relaxing and a little bit of bloggin’ is a nice addition!

city market kansas city

Yesterday, my boyfriend and I took a little trip to Kansas City’s City Market! I realize I’m fulfilling the basic white girl stereotype when I say this but I just love being able to buy fresh produce from farmers. They had some great strawberries for $1 a carton and 4 small limes for $1 also! I just love a good deal, don’t you? On the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean side of the market, they had a spice shop with open containers of delicious spices for $2 a bag. A sweet Italian man and I both agreed we had trouble being around the spices because it made us sniffle. David and I bought some cayenne and a few other spices to add to the expanding spice cabinet!

Spice market

Spending an hour grocery shopping or going to markets like these is one of my favorite dates the my boyfriend takes me on. It’s simple but kind of fun to do together because we usually get a bite to eat after. Plus, I just love walking around holding his hand (girly squeal!) The little things in life are always the best!

Tell me about your weekend in a comment below!

Farmers Market and Flowers

Hello lovelies! Yesterday was a busy day for me so I didn’t get time to write unfortunately. I’m making up for it today by telling you all about my weekend! I come from an area with a large military presence and frankly, not much else. I had heard a few months back about a summer farmer’s market at a local historical home. I decided Saturday morning that I would go check it out.

sotterly mansion

I had my coffee (to go) and drove down a few winding roads to the Sotterly Mansion. It’s a beautiful old plantation home on the water and supposedly it’s haunted. My younger sister worked as a junior volunteer docent when she was 10 and she would come home with stories from older docents about creepy happenings on the property. Are they true? I couldn’t tell you. My experience as a volunteer there lasted one day and I got creeped out by a few strange noises and computer malfunctions that no one could explain.

Anyway, when I finally got to the mansion there were a few rows of cars and several vendors selling everything from fruits and veggies to homemade soaps. I love little outdoor events like these. They brings communities together and allows us to easily support local business. I ended up just buying a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my mom’s table at home. She said they reminded her of autumn. I couldn’t agree more!

autumn flowers

I wandered all over the property and found myself at the gardens beside the home. Several volunteers were weeding out the flower beds and spraying wasps with wasp spray. Two bees landed on my flowers and I about lost it. I don’t do bees or things that “buzz”. Regardless, the flowers were so beautiful and full of life! There was a breeze coming off the water that was wonderful and the sunshine was absolutely perfect.

After a few minutes of wandering the garden and thanking God for the beautiful day, I asked a woman to take a picture of my bright and cheery outfit. It turns out she is also a blogger who just moved to my town from Texas. It was nice to talk and commiserate with her about the hardships of blogging. Here’s the picture she took!

lilly pulitzer july print

My top is just a simple racerback tank from Old Navy for $3. The skirt is obviously a Lilly Pulitzer Fourth of July print (I think it went on sale for $49 during the After-Party Sale). My shoes I found for $10 at Target a few weeks ago when they were trying to get rid of summer stuff.

It was a wonderful way to spend the weekend and it lifted my spirits like you wouldn’t believe! I’m going to be visiting Texas for the next two weeks so be sure to check out my Instagram (@wittynpretty21) for my travel updates!
