Pumpkin Spice and Paint

Happy Friday! I really shouldn’t complain about how long my week has been since I’ve spent the last two weeks exploring Texas, but I’m tired. I’ll be unwinding by the pool tomorrow and then decorating my parents’ house for Autumn Sunday! Little things like that give us reasons to be happy I think.

Speaking of happy things, I went with a friend to a fun place in my town called Wine & Design! The idea behind it is people getting together to have a glass of wine and paint. I did a painting here a year or so ago with my friend Lindsey and we painted a bird in sunset (post here). This time, my friend Amanda and her soon-to-be roommate Caitlin went to paint a fall themed canvas!

Amanda and I have known each other since before Kindergarten. When we were painting I remembered in my memory box that I still had one of her birthday party invitations. She remembered that at one of my birthdays she wore a frilly dress and socks thinking it was a party to dress up for. Apparently it wasn’t! Several of us ended up riding bikes and she fell off of hers. Good times.

Before we started painting, we inventoried our supplies- paint brushes, paper towels, aprons, mason jar full of water to rinse our brushes in, and finally paint saucers. For the painting we did, we only used black, white, mustard, brick red, royal blue, and brown.

Our instructor, Angelica, was really incredible! She’s from Mexico originally but went to college for art in Los Angeles. While we were painting our canvases she was putting the finishing touches on this gorgeous mason jar canvas!

The finished product was amazing! The best part was that everyone’s canvas looked a little different. We all put our own unique touches on our artwork. I just love mine. It’s the perfect decoration for the coming season.

Here are a few other pretty paintings that were hung up all around the studio! The black cat in the pumpkin is my favorite! The cat belongs to Angelica and she told me that she adopted her from the animal shelter after someone had found her behind our local Taco Bell. Ironically, I remember several times last year trying to get her to come to me but she was too scared. I’m so happy she has a good home now!

Here’s the link to the studio in my town! Have a lovely weekend!

Personalized DIY

Happy Friday loves! I honestly didn’t think this week would come to a close but I’m so glad it finally is. My job has me busy (no I’m not a full-time, paid blogger) and I’ve been putting a ton of effort into it. I hit the gym a few times this week and find it really difficult to walk up and down stairs at the moment. First world problems, right?

Besides my typical activities, I took on a little DIY project earlier in the week and wanted to share it with you! I went to Michael’s Craft Store for some inspiration and found that individual wooden alphabet letters were on sale for $3. I bought an ‘E’ for ‘Elizabeth’ (I haven’t always gone by ‘Liz’), a hot glue gun, white paint, and loose pearls and clear gemstones.

I got home and painted the letter with the help of my little kitty cat, Muffin. Actually, she just sat there and watched me. I had to put on a few coats of paint because the wood was rather porous.

After the paint dried, I plugged in the hot glue gun and started glueing on pearls and gems. If I ever did this again, I would nix the gems and stick with pearls. Because the gems are clear, from a distance it looks like they’re just gaps where pearls should be.

Voila! It’s done and is a really pretty little desk accessory! There’s so much on my desk right now that it should come as no surprise to anyone that I rarely use the actual desk. I’d hang the letter somewhere in my room but I’m so tired of putting holes in my walls.

My little sister inspired this DIY when she and my mom were renovating the back porch. She used an ‘M’ for our last name and glued little shells on it. The project turned out so pretty and is a great accessory to have on the porch. Let me know what DIY projects you’ve taken on lately! I just might try one of them!

Peak Into my Bedroom

As I’ve slowly turned this bare-wall apartment into my unique space, I’ve taken some pretty pictures to document my success. I want to share with you a few things that are sitting around my room right now. Normally, I’d share with you my entire space but, contrary to what other life and style bloggers would like you to think, my room and my life are quite messy at times. As much as I adore pretty things like peonies, Kate Spade, Lilly Pulitzer, and macarons, I can promise you that my life isn’t always a “pretty thing.” This is just a little look I can offer you into my life!

Let Them Eat Cake!

Let Them Eat Cake!
On Wednesdays we eat cake! This is my own little spin on Marie Antoinette and Mean Girls. “On Wednesdays we wear pink” and “Let them eat cake” are iconic statements from two glamor girls lost in their own worlds. Frankly, if they weren’t so shallow, I might actually adore them. Macarons, cupcakes, pastries, and expensive champagne are all delicious reminders of the aristocratic society Marie embodied. Too bad it started the French Revolution.

Working Girl Inspiration

Good morning lovelies! Here’s a little Thursday inspiration to get you through the day! I woke up and was looking at my Pinterest and pinned a few things that inspired me. You can find more on my board “The Working Girl’s Life” if you like what you see. I love my life as a professional woman and am so empowered by it! However, I don’t think being a professional should mean I can’t live with a little color in my life. No matter what position I’ll hold in my lifetime, you’ll still find me rocking pink and sparkles!

Enjoy your day! It’s almost Friday! Keep working hard being all that you were designed to be. The best is yet to come in our beautiful lives. We are tres magnifique!
