Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you’ve recovered from your crazy Thanksgiving festivities and are on the mend. My Thanksgiving was quite busy in San Antonio; David and I spent it with his family and friends. Frankly, I’m still stuffed from all of the food! I think I had about five plates of turkey and stuffing by the end of the day. No regrets! This season is so wonderful for yummy treats but so terrible for my waistline.
Since Christmas is now in full swing, I went and browsed the Target dollar section to see what holiday goodies I could find and I wasn’t disappointed! They had cute Christmas salt and pepper shakers, wrapping paper, snow globe place cards, hats and mittens, and plenty of glittery items! I bought Christmas themed dish towels (with Christmas trees on them, of course) and this adorable pink Christmas tree I wanted to share with you guys!
You’ll never guess how much it cost! It was $3! You don’t even know how excited I am about something so small and simple. The ornaments were also $3 for the whole box. The Target dollar spot is my favorite place to find fun little decorative items like this for cheap. I think we can all relate to how hard it is to go into the store just needing one thing and not come out with an additional $50 worth of stuff. The struggle is real!
Where will I be putting my new pink tree? On my desk at work of course! I like to add a little merriment wherever I go. Hopefully no one in the office will mind all of the glitter that follows! Anyway, tell me about your recent Target dollar section finds in the comments! I love to see what other Targets have in their dollar spots!
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! My family and I celebrated together with some friends of ours who have become like family to us over the years. It was a joyous time of laughter and good food. Best part is, we have tons of turkey left over to make turkey sandwiches!
The day after Thanksgiving everyone goes into full-on Christmas mode. It’s now socially acceptable to have Christmas trees lit up, seasonal songs playing, and to order that Gingerbread Latte you’ve been dying to drink. As much as I love Thanksgiving, I love the day after almost as much! Our outdoor lights go up and the Christmas cheer in turned on.
Christmas Tree Lighting
Another reason I love this day is for our town’s Christmas tree lighting. It happens every year the day after Thanksgiving. My parents have lived in the same town since I was born; needless to say I know a lot of people here. Some I went to high school with, others to church with, and some I’ve just known since birth. A town tree lighting is an event that brings everyone together!
Community gatherings are great, especially because you see people you haven’t seen in awhile. On occasions like this, I always try to look my best! Since it’s a casual event and usually a chilly one, I’ve got the perfect outfit to combine warmth and style.
Start with a base layer of warm thermal clothing (no one sees this layer). Wear a trendy safari jacket on top and classic denim jeans. Now for my favorite part- the little add-ons that make an outfit fabulous! Let’s start with shoes. Duck boots are a classic shoe for the wet, winter months and they don’t have to come with an expensive price tag. Try these ones from Target. I love them because I can tuck my jeans into the boots but they don’t go as far up as riding boots do.
For added warmth, wear a knitted headband like these ones with a scarf. I like to tuck my scarves into my jacket before zipping it up. A patterned scarf would work really nicely with this outfit because all of the materials and designs are very basic. Add some color to your face with a classic red lip! A little pizzazz never hurt anyone!

Do you ever just have those days where all you want to do is sit at home and relax? With the Christmas season upon us, I feel like this is all the time! Between homework and my part-time job, I don’t have the time to sit around and do nothing. I haven’t had time to bake any cookies or decorate my little tree. Life just gets away from me!
In an effort to enjoy these next few festive weeks, I’m making a promise to myself that I’ll take one day out of every week to enjoy the season and relax at home. I’ll drink my latte, decorate my tree, bake some sugar cookies, wrap gifts, light a candle, cuddle up under a blanket, and just enjoy the festive nature of December.
Be sure to check off these to-do’s over the next few weeks!
- Decorate a tree
- String lights on bushes outside
- Try new cocoa recipe
- Bake cookies
- Have a Christmas movie marathon
- Cut out paper snowflakes
- Hang mistletoe
- Listen to Christmas music
- Enjoy a roaring fire
- Lounge in warm Christmassy pajamas
Oh my goodness, where has the time gone? Last I checked it was the day before Thanksgiving and now it’s Saturday. I’ve been so busy with festivities and work that I really haven’t taken the time to respond to your comments or write. Oops. Sorry, life got in the way.
You’ll be surprised to know that after my wonderful Thanksgiving meal and wonderful pie, I did not partake in any pre-Black Friday adventures or even any actual Black Friday adventures. That’s right, I didn’t shop at all. While I feel a little bent out of shape about it, I can honestly say it feels good to save my money for things that I actually will need. It about killed me to watch my Instagram feed blow up with everyone’s fabulous finds. I really pouted after seeing one blogger’s splurge at Kate Spade and a few other stores. Oh well, maybe next year?
Christmas Tree Ornaments!
For many of us, Christmas decorating is well underway. While my tree has yet to go up, I found the perfect tree for myself at Target! It’s a 4 foot pre-lit white tree that literally sparkles! I decided that a tree like this has to have cute ornaments. I found adorable “food” themed ornaments at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland online. These ornaments range from $5-$15 and they’re all made of glass. Here are the one’s that I’m wanting on my tree!
