How fun, right? We rarely get to see each other so I’m really thankful that this summer I’ll get to spend some time with her. Without a doubt this is my favorite holiday to celebrate. It’s the one time of the year where classic American, preppy style is not only worn but celebrated! For one day out of the year my wardrobe is super stylish!

My outfit is still in the making but I will most certainly be wearing my Lilly Pulitzer fireworks skirt. It’s seriously the most festive and fun piece of clothing I own! I don’t think they make it anymore sadly or else I’d buy something similar in that pattern and end up wearing it all summer. Who says 4th of July has to end? Anyway enjoy your Tuesday and drink some coffee for me!

Road Trippin’ Style and Eats

Hello lovelies! I’ve been gone for the past few days because I’m road tripping to Texas. Currently, I’m sitting in a hotel room in the middle of Arkansas. When we got here, we sat outside by a fire pit the hotel had to unwind a bit. It’s amazing what sitting on your backside for 10 straight hours can do to you. My biggest complaint has been my inability to use my iPhone the whole time because I’d go over my data limit. First world problems, right?

The first day of the trip we set out from my house in Maryland and got lunch at an adorable brewery in the Blue Ridge Mountains. My attempt to eat healthy during this road trip began and ended with this lunch. I ordered a vegetarian black bean burger with guacamole and a special white sauce on top. It was the most delicious thing I’ve ever eaten! Unfortunately, any attempt to be healthy ended after that when I went and bought chocolate-dipped pretzels.

After the brewery, we continued on our way down through western Virginia and into Tennessee. There were so many picturesque scenes that I couldn’t capture them all. Some things are just meant to be viewed with your own eyes and not through the lens of a camera.

I tried to dress decently on this road trip but gosh it’s hard when all you want to do is wear sweatpants and a hoodie. On this particular day, I was wearing a red tunic from Rachel & Zoe, Lauren Conrad ankle jeans, and Daisy Fuentes sunglasses I found at Kohl’s on clearance. I love aviators for my face shape! I have a round-ish face, so to balance it out square or triangular shaped glasses look best. I simply cannot wear any rounded glasses without looking like a bug.

Fourth of July Style

fourth_of_july_styleFourth of July is this weekend and I couldn’t be more excited! I love this holiday for many reasons and one of them is sporting red, white, and blue in style! I love the way Americans celebrate their freedom. It’s a beautiful expression of who we are and that there are some traditions that won’t change.

I still haven’t decided what I’m wearing or even what my official plans are. I have many ideas floating around in my head but they all have one thing in common: bug spray! I get eaten alive every year. I also might attempt to make strawberry shortcake with some blueberries for added color, but don’t count on it.

I’ll take a selfie to share with you on my Instagram when I figure out what my Fourth of July style will include. For now, enjoy my inspiration!

How the (South) West Was Fun

Hello lovelies! I’ve been on vacation for the last week and took a break from writing. I must say that I missed it and am glad to be back feeling refreshed and renewed. I was in San Antonio, Texas visiting relatives and a few friends while also taking in a bit of what the area had to offer. It was a really fun visit with lots of memories made and laughs shared.

I have a personal connection to the area as well. My dad and his brother and sisters spent a great deal of their growing up time at an Air Force base in San Antonio. I hadn’t been to Texas before, so getting to see a few of the places my dad and his family used to frequent was really nice. Experiencing the insane Texas heat (and humidity) was also quite a shocker. You’ll notice my hair is up in quite a few pictures. It was just too hot to wear it down and keeping it styled was just not happening. Scroll through the pictures below to see what I did!

More on my time in San Antonio to come tomorrow! I’ll be doing a little haul of the things I bought at the San Marcos outlets including a new Kate Spade bag perfect for any young professional lady!

Texas Bound

How the West was Fun

Despite recent flooding and otherwise dreary weather, this week I’m making my way down to the great state of Texas! I’ve got boots, Cowboys, and Tex-Mex on my mind and I can’t wait for my first visit to this desert oasis. Actually, from what I’ve been told, it’s not all a desert and not everyone wears boots or knows how to saddle a horse. I’m just fulfilling my childhood fantasies of a remote outpost with dangerous outlaws and heroic sheriffs. Can you blame me?

My plans are to fly into Austin and then make my way to San Antonio where I’ll spend the majority of my time. I’ll be doing some sight seeing, shopping, and trying some of the local cuisine. I was hoping there would be a dude ranch near by the city so I could ride horses and pretend I’m a cowgirl. Apparently, ranches aren’t just everywhere in this part of Texas. Instead of chaps and spurs, I’ll be wearing sundresses and sandals. I ripped through my closet trying to find tribal and Aztec prints to wear and no such luck. I think I’ll have to stick to the east coast prep style. Hopefully Texans like Lilly Pulitzer and Sperrys as much as we do East of the Mississippi.

I’ll update you on my trip via Instagram! Be sure to follow me (@wittynpretty21)
