Weekend Style

Oh Monday, you’re here again. I was hoping we might just skip right to Friday and forget about the work week. It doesn’t work that way apparently. I’m sitting here in bed wearing my pjs and drinking my coffee listening to the birds chirping, why are they so darn perky in the morning? I’m a groggy mess at the moment. I’m still recovering from my wild weekend (kidding). For Father’s Day, my family and I went to church and then headed to a BBQ place for obvious reasons. I really do have a great dad. I was one of the lucky kids!

Now onto important stuff, like what I wore this weekend (sarcasm intended). Saturday I spent shopping for bathing suits with my sister and her friend. I dreaded these shopping trips when I was her age. To her credit though, she looks way cuter in them than I ever did. To brighten the otherwise humbling shopping trip, I wore floral print shorts from Old navy and an orange, loose blouse also from Old Navy. I toted around my new Kate Spade bag too! That little thing makes me so happy.

On Sunday, I wore this adorable Lauren Conrad dress with a bright pink Aldo necklace┬áI picked up in Texas (it’s on sale too!) For dramatic effect, I rocked a sunhat. There’s nothing that makes me feel classier than a big, floppy sunhat. It’s so Meredith Blake! Parent Trap reference anyone?

After this weekend though, I’ve determined that there are three things I can’t live without during the summer: big sunglasses, bright clothing, and a side braid. You’ll see me with a braid in my hair quite often this summer, this humidity is ruining my hair and this is the only way I can deal with it. Let me know hat are your three things are in a comment below!

Color Spotlight: Caramel and Wine

Caramel and Wine

I was inspired by fall colors today and found these gems while browsing through polyvore. They’re so rich in color and speak volumes about the person wearing them.

This season I’m really loving the Burberry style ponchos! However, most of us won’t pay $600 for one so I’ve found alternatives that are much cheaper at places like Marshall’s and Macy’s. They are just so classy and cozy. Perfect for a day of window shopping or sitting at Starbucks sipping a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I also love the bangles that correspond with the color in the poncho. Gold and leopard print are really in this season! The same goes for the red patent leather shoes and bag. I was afraid they would be a bit too matchy-matchy but because the shoes are on the bottom and you would carry the bag closer to your shoulder I thought there was enough distance between them to make it work.

What colors will you be wearing this season? Comment below to let me know!

Outfit for Weekends (tres chic)!

On the Town

There’s something nice about the weekends and wearing a cute little outfit that can go from day to night. I’m such a lover of white jeans with peplum tops at the moment too! I really like doing neutrals like these tans and whites and adding color in one particular place. Sometimes makeup is a great way to do this, particularly when using a bright shade of lipstick. Otherwise, rock a top!

Here’s to the weekend loves!

Staple Accessories for the Lady’s Closet

As promised from my previous post, here is my list of staple accessories and shoes you should have in your closet. Before you question why everything is nude and black, remember that the point for these add-ons is that they are supposed to go well with everything. You can add color later on!

One thing I should probably mention about the items shown here is that I totally realize for most people the brands I chose to include are unaffordable for the average person. After a little bit of research and browsing some stores, I discovered that most of these things are available at Target, they just won’t have the designer logo or price tag. Enjoy your shopping!Staple Accessories
